“Thirteen or So Minutes”
Love is Where the Heart Is
While thirteen minutes is not a long time, a lot can happen. Lawrence Jefferies and Hugh Greerey, two straight men, meet and thirteen minutes later, their lives are changed. Director and writer William Branden Blinn looks at the way society labels people and then sorts them into little boxes. This is so true especially when we look at sexual orientation. One of our characters here is sexually liberated while the other is repressed and conscious of societal labels. Here two straight or heterosexual men have sex with each other and we are left to decide if this is an example of what Kinsey referred to as the sexual continuum of life.
What we see here is that love knows no gender but it indeed knows the heart. Blinn gives is a narrative that is about post sex and we do not see sex but we hear. Two men with different opinions in thirteen minutes find the diversity of life and its beauty. Oh that life could be like this!!!
