An Inside Look at Gay Porn and Murder
Porn is big money and fortunes are made by creating it, but not many of us have any idea of what goes on behind the scenes and here is a look at just that. The online porn industry generates billions of dollars a day (a DAY!!!) and people become millionaires overnight. As can be expected, when that much money is being made, there is going to be crime. This is the story of Harlow Cuadra (26) and his life partner and lover, Joseph Kerekes (35), both porn producers but who were so hungry to become famous that nothing stood in their way—not even life. Bryan Kocis, a 44 year old porn entrepreneur stood in their way and he had to go so they stabbed him twenty-eight times and slashed his throat almost cutting off his head. The murder took place in a small Pennsylvania town where Kocis was well liked and no one had any idea that he was involved in porn. As the residents learned more and more, we also learn that Kocis used under-aged models as well as adults.
As the police began to investigate the murder, they had to cross the country and soon things became very involved and led to the arrest of a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a former Marine. Now both men were working as models and as prostitutes and porn producers. Cuadra and Kerekes were arrested and convicted in the murder. The reason for the murder, we learn, is that Brent Corrigan (Sean Lockhart), the new hot twink was working with Kocis and they wanted him.
Immediately after the murder, Kocis’s house was set on fire and when the flames were put out, secrets came out of the closet. Kocis had owned Cobra, a porn studio that specialized in using “twinks” to perform bareback sex. Meanwhile Cuadra and Kerekes met and fell in love and began a partnership that was not only porn but also an agency for male hustlers. They wanted to be able to fulfill any and every gay fantasy and they were lucky that Cuadra was young, good looking and muscular, something of a twink, and Kerekes was more of the “daddy”. Together they looked every bit the classy couple.
Corrigan had already decided to split from Cobra and just as he was ready to do so, he got a phone call telling him that Kocis was dead and this would affect where he would go next. He had hoped to make peace with Kocis but now that he was gone, things would undoutedly change. He knew he would be forced to leave his Corrigan stage name behind and act under his given name, Sean Lockhart. This whole business also caused him to age quickly and twink roles would come few and far between. Although Cuadra and Kerekes went into hiding, this did not work and they were arrested and charged with murder.
With the case solved, Kocis’s secrets were exposed and Cuadra and his lover went to prison. Corrigan has continued his porn career but a terrible mark has been placed on the porn industry. It is important to note that the gay community did not support the murderers and they are now serving their sentences. There is no doubt in my mind that this reads like fiction and if you did not know that this is a true story and everything in the book actually happened, you would tend not to believe it. I was reminded of Truman Capote’s great nonfiction novel, “In Cold Blood” and here is another book in the same tradition. The fact that it is true makes it that much more interesting and it is beautifully written. The authors skillfully deal with themes of deceit, schemes and betrayal and we get a peek into what goes on behind the cameras as gay porn is being made.
