“Queer Objects” gives us a look at queer things— those objects “we fill our houses with, the gifts we share with our friends, the commodities we consume at work and at play, the clothes and accessories we wear, various reminders of state power, as well as the analogue and digital technologies we use to communicate with one another.” Yet have we ever stopped to wonder what what makes an object queer?

In sixty-three chapters, we look at this question as it relates to lesbian, gay and transgender communities across time, cultures, and space. What makes this a unique look at our community is that it is an unique international collaboration that includes well-known and newer writers who “write about fabulous, captivating, and transgressive items ranging from ancient Egyptian tomb paintings and Roman artefacts to political placards, snapshots, sex toys, and the smartphone.” This is a great and fun read that requires nothing more than to sit back and enjoy.
