“WELCOME TO NEW YORK”
30 Minutes of Fun
All of us love surprises and “Welcome to New York” is filled with them—at least for me it was. As I watched different characters come onto the screen, I thought to myself—“that looks like…” and then when the end credits rolled, I found out that I was right. Seeing Casper Andreas in front of the camera was a treat but he does appear in some of his own films—here, he was totally unexpected. The same can be said for Sean Paul Lockhart (some of you may recognize him from his other film career).
The movie itself is quite simple. We meet several people who are going through their first experiences in New York City as rhey try to take a bite out of The Big Apple. Heading the cast is Sherry Vine as Dr. Kitty Rosenblatt, a very unorthodox psychiatrist who has quite a successful practice (and who is absolutely hysterical in her role) and she is where her clients come to become adjusted to living in New York. Among her clients and the people we meet are Sean Paul Lockhart as Jake, Megan Kane as Cassie, Lauren Ordair (Nicholas Page), Matthew Watson as Ryan, Ashleigh Murray as Simone and features Casper Andreas as Christopher, Alex Ringler (Cupcake) and Victor Cruz (Jose). I don’t dare tell you what they discuss because if I did I would ruin the film and I want you to enjoy it as much as I did.
Steven Tylor O’Connor directed and he should be very proud of this clever little film. This is the second film of his that I have seen and I can say that he is one of the new directors to watch. If “Welcome to New York” is an omen of what we can expect from him then we are very lucky.
